Job skills

Developing job skills is one of the main pillars of our program!

Several participants who reached the age of 18 were supported by the project in taking qualifying and professional training courses and in finding employment, by connecting them with local surf schools, cafes, and restaurants at surf spots. Some were helped in training to work as surf instructors and to repair surfboards. This helped to create income-generating opportunities, promote self-sufficiency and a sense of purpose among these young individuals so that they can also support their families and continue to love what they do: surfing.

We are committed to supporting each young person in their professional development and we want to give our youth new opportunities!

SKSS envisiones training a group of young beneficiaries to take full ownership by learning, training, and becoming coaches and mentors for the next generation. It encourages older beneficiaries to reinvest in the project once they have found their path, and for some, this reinvestment is already happening. The goal is for the project to become entirely local, managed by the young surfing community.

It's possible for young girls and boys to link their passion to their professional lives as surf related tourism is growing steadily in Senegal!
