New school vibes, medals, and more! 🌊✨
Dear Surfkids Shredding Senegal family,
Your support continues to transform lives in Yoff. Over the past few months, we’ve taken big steps forward, fueled by the feedback and well-being of our young surfers.
Here is what’s been happening lately:
Our school gets a makeover!
- A new kitchen area: equipped with filtered water and snacks so the kids can refuel after their sessions.
- Skate storage: a dedicated locker room for their skateboards
- A chill-out zone: complete with Wi-Fi and comfy sofas for relaxing and studying. The kids have already fully embraces the new layout, which is now perfectly adapted for all our different activities!
Victory at the Senegal National Championship!
On January 3rd and 4th, our team headed to the Senegal Surfing Championships. What a weekend!
Surfing Shredding Senegal and Malika Surf dominated the waves, bringing home a total of 16 medals and reaching the podium in every single category – 7 in total!
We are so proud of their fighting spirit. Now, we are training harder than ever for the Senegal Cup and the upcoming Africa Tour!
Empowering through technology and sport
Thanks to your generous laptop donations, we have officially launched our English and IT classes. These courses are designed for our young surfers who are currently out of the school system, giving them essential tools for their future.
We are still looking for more laptops. If you have a working computer you no longer use or you know sombody who does, it could help another child join our program and continue bridging the digital divide.
Save the date: 100% Girls' Surf Day
On Sunday, February 15th, we’re hosting a special Surf Initiation Day entirely dedicated to girls. Surf lessons, beach games, and lots of smiles are on the program!
Our goal is to involve as many girls as possible in our current and future projects, and this is just the beginning. Many more activities are already in the works!
Thank you so much for your support, we'll keep you in touch for news of the kids and the association in the next newsletter!
